A visit to Mitsui's roadheader factory in Omuta, Japan was a nice way to round out the end of the year. It was a highly successful visit in which Geodata KODA and Mitsui performed our acceptance test of the electrical, mechanical and sensors systems we've been planning for months.

Today was KODA's turn to present its paper on "Multi-Instrument Total Station Monitoring with Advanced Weather Measurements". Not until I had to read the title out at the start of my presentation did I realize how gratuitous I was being with the naming of the paper. Either way, it was nice to reflect on my last (and successful) project before I left the mother country.

What an exciting week it has been! A visit to Ralph Perez of New York Geomatics, followed by a look at some new monitoring solutions that answer the question: "It's moved, so now what?", some custom programming and some thoughts an open protocol for total stations.

KODA is excited to announce that it has been appointed as a Reseller for 12d Model – Surveying, Civil and Water Engineering software – for the USA.

12d Model is used in over 65 countries, and the uptake continues every day. Version 11 has just been released. Along with that come many enhancements, including 12d Field, and of particular note, some new functionality for underground construction.
